Volkswagen collaborates with Aeris, an organization fully dedicated to IoT. This collaboration accelerated a new joint venture called “Ventic,” which will develop connected vehicle platform technologies.

This joint venture is 49% owned by Aeris and 51% owned by Volkswagen and will be centered on developing technology for Volkswagen vehicles, especially for North America Market. This venture might start with the launch of the next-generation connectivity platform “Car-Net” in Volkswagen vehicles later this year.
The organization announced that Ventic would be effective for the later generation of VW License, which is expected for deployment in almost VW brand’s 2020 model vehicles. The German automaker further added that the joint venture offers a “customizable” approach to the connected car technology.
By bringing everything inside Ventic, it will make the organization to use the technology in certain vehicle models or areas. Ventic will have a more active user interface with the Car-Net system and there is also built-in cloud support for its users.
Global chief information officer at Volkswagen and member of the Ventic board, Abdallah Shanti said,
Our connectivity platform expands beyond remote services and vehicle safety and security. This platform has inherent flexibility, which enables new business models through third-party integration and is foundational for vehicle-to-everything communications.
Concerning V2X technology, the platform can back up future capabilities. For Instance, the Future Car-Net system will permit its users to alter its access rules. This is important if VW has plans for car-sharing and mobile services on a large scale. Suffice to say, Car-Net will be the inspiration for everything.
